#5 Barhopping Bestie: The friend that makes you step out of your skin
Everyone knows this friend. As a matter of fact, you may have too many of them. It’s the friend that you call whenever you need to unwind and let loose. The friend that is always up for going to a party, the beach, a bar, a nightclub…wherever. Simply name the place and they are there. What is nice about this friend is that there is nothing deep about the friendship. You both enjoy each others company and he/she is therapeutic for you because you are always laughing around them…and laughter is life’s medicine.

#4 Pollyanna?...Perhaps: The friend who makes you a better person
This person is usually wise and makes good choices. You are constantly learning from him or her which is great. However, they are not someone that you idolize because they are imperfect just like you; so you hold them in high regard but without feeling subordinate. You like being around them because they are always positive and he/she helps to keep you level-headed and focused on the important things. This person usually brings other perspectives to the table and aids in opening you up to other possibilities.

#3 Moneybags: The friend who will lend you money when you’ve fallen on hard times
This friend is someone we all need at times. They will say “yes” without even asking questions like “how much” or “when can you pay me back” or “what is it for.” They won’t call your job looking for you like some stalker or leave 70 messages on your voice mail looking for payment similar to a debt collector. They simply have confidence in your friendship and expects payment whenever you get your ducks in a row. But if you don’t pay them back right away, this person doesn’t throw away the friendship because they are too sensible for that. They just simply don’t lend you anymore money.

#2 The Confidant: The friend that is all ears
This friend is priceless. They will always lend you their ear and listen to you vent, day after day, until you feel better no matter how painful it is for them. Sure, you can tell him or her your deep secrets, no matter how strange and ungodly, because they will never judge you and will never let the secrets out of the bag. Rather, they make you feel normal and loved by somehow relating to you. This person is almost like family, but unlike family, they were chosen.

#1 Liar-Liar: The friend that will lie for you
“She was with me all day, officer, I swear.” The friend that will lie for you is indeed your number one friend. This person will jeopardize themselves and risk getting into trouble for you. Not too many people can declare that they are this type of person. After all, who would want to risk their safety, freedom, reputation, etc. just to save your butt? That is why if you have this type of friend in your life, you should cherish them because there are so few who will actually have your back all the way to the end.

  1. So true. I can think of 1 or more for every category. I think I am a Pollyanna and a confidant type of friend to many. Where do you think you fall?
